European Investment Bank Group at Web Summit 2022 (#WebSummit)

Discover EIB Group’s activities to support innovation and start-ups in Europe and grow the innovation ecosystem further

  •  Press conference, interview opportunities and panel discussions with EIB Vice-President Ricardo Mourinho Félix and the EIB Group delegation, finance and innovation experts, and innovative companies

The EIB Group will showcase its support for innovation for start-ups and fast growing companies in Europe at the Web Summit in Lisbon from 1-4 November 2022.

Digital technology, sustainable economy, and climate action to build a competitive, sustainable and digital European economy in which SMEs are key drivers are the main objectives underlying the EIB Group’s activity.

The EIB Group acts as a catalyst for many companies across the continent through all stages of development to access financing in Europe, and in 2021 alone  provided €20.7 billion to support innovation and skills   for more than 431 000 SMEs and mid-caps in Europe.

During the Web Summit at the EIB Group Growth Lounge (Pavillion 3), the European Investment Bank and the specialised financial arm for SMEs, the European Investment Fund, will demonstrate how they work together in mobilising finance and technical expertise to support innovative start-ups and companies which aim to scale up their business activities.

Wednesday, 2 November

  • Building infrastructure for European innovations
    10:30 – 10:50  @ Corporate Innovation Summit
    A fireside chat with Vice-President Ricardo Mourinho Félix and Jane Wakefield (BBC) to discuss the innovation ecosystem, what can be done to position Europe successfully as global “tech hub” and with which activities EIB Group fosters innovation and skills in Europe.
  • Masterclass: Fund and scale your breakthrough technologies in Europe

    The European Investment Bank and the European Innovation Council present funding opportunities for deep-tech start-ups, as well as introducing the new EIC fund. Learn more about how and where to apply.
  • Tech policy that works: supporting the next generation of founders

    EIB Vice-President Ricardo Mourinho Félix, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education Elvira Fortunato and Patrick Walsh from Dogpatch Labs discuss how government policies could look like to further develop Europe as a tech hub, foster innovation and support companies in a targeted way.
