EUR 25m guarantee to Tatra Banka in Slovakia

EIF has entered into a guarantee agreement with Tatra Banka A.S., which represents a first loan guarantee agreement signed with a commercial intermediary in Slovakia under the European Commission's Multiannual Programme for Enterprise. Under the terms of the agreement, EIF's guarantee will cover 50% of Tatra Bank's risk on a EUR 50m loan portfolio. The loans would be investment loans with reduced collateral requirements for SMEs in Slovakia.

Tatra Banka A.S. was established in 1990 as the first privately owned bank in Slovakia. Its majority shareholder is Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich. It provides the full range of corporate and retail banking services, with a specific aim to expand activity in the SME segment of the market.
