EIF Annual Report 2018

  •
    Release date: 09 April 2019

On 9 April 2018, the EIF released its Annual Report and Financial Statements for the year 2018. The EIF’s 2018 activity reflects the ongoing demand for SME financing in Europe, as well as the EIF’s commitment to serve it. Of particular note, the EIF deployed EUR 10.1bn of investments to support European SMEs, which is expected to leverage EUR 43.7bn of financing to SMEs in the real economy. As well as generating record-breaking levels of financing to SMEs in Europe, the EIF issued new programmes and instruments on behalf of the EU and other parties to continue to target market gaps – whether sectoral, geographical or finance-based, that affect access to finance for SMEs. The EIF remains Europe’s primary provider of risk financing for SMEs and small mid-caps, ensuring access to affordable finance for European enterprises.
