EIF Working Paper 2015/27 - Bridging the University Funding Gap

  •
    Release date: 27 May 2015

Research & Market Analysis presents "Bridging the University Funding Gap”, n.27 of EIF's Working Paper Series, resulting from the cooperation with the University of Bologna and EIF’s Technology Transfer team.

The limited availability of private funding sources to support technology transfer activities represents a major barrier to the effective commercialization of university technologies. This paper analyzes the key determinants of use of financial instruments by universities - such as seed funds and proof-of-concept programs - to address such funding gaps. The working paper forms part of the output of the research project ‘European IP regimes and their impact on technology transfer/IP finance’, financed by the EIB Institute in the context of its Knowledge Programme. This project, which finished in April this year, was a cooperation between the EIF and the University of Bologna.
