EIF Working Paper 2013/18 - European Small Business Finance Outlook

Research & Market Analysis (RMA) has the pleasure to present "European Small Business Finance Outlook", June/2013”, n.18 of EIF's Working Paper Series.

This analysis provides an overview of the main markets relevant to EIF. We start by discussing the general market environment for SME finance, then look at the main aspects of equity finance and the SME guarantees / securitisation markets. Finally, we briefly highlight important aspects of microfinance in Europe. In our previous versions of the ESBFO we touched the topic of SME guarantees only briefly. From now on, in addition to our already ‘traditional’ analysis of the SME securitisation  market, we include specific sections on SME guarantees in order to reflect the importance of this area for SME finance in Europe.

The EIF Working Paper Series has been designed to make available to a wider readership selected topics and studies in relation to EIF´s business. The Working Papers are edited by EIF´s RMA. They are typically authored or co-authored by EIF staff and are usually published only electronically.
