1990: Employed as head of section in the National Audit Office of Denmark. Financial, compliance and performance audits.
1996: Promoted to special advisor in the National Audit Office.
1997 - 2002: On secondment and employed as an auditor at the International Board of Auditors for NATO, NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Various financial and compliance audits of NATO funded military and civilian organizations in the NATO Alliance countries. Experience in IFAC standards from international audits.
June 2002: Promoted to audit director in the National Audit Office and responsible for financial and compliance audit of four ministries.
May 2005: Promoted to assistant auditor general in the National Audit Office. Responsible for financial and compliance audits of 7 ministries. Experience in co-operation with internal audit functions in the Danish public sector. Responsible for the annual report on the audit of the Danish state accounts to the Public Accounts Committee of the Danish Parliament. The reports include observations and recommendations on financial management, internal control and risk management in the public sector.
January 2010: Assistant auditor general for performance audits. Responsible for performance audit reports and memoranda to the Public Accounts Committee of the Danish Parliament. The subjects cover a wide field and reflect what the National Audit Office considers essential in order to contribute to the state being as efficient and financially sound as possible and to enhance an effective state administration. Some reports pertain to the financial management of a single ministry whereas others are cross-ministerial.
January 2013: Assistant auditor general for performance and financial audits.
Other assignments
Chairman of INTOSAI’s PSC (Professional Standards Committee) which is developing global professional standards for public sector auditing from May 2012.
Member of the Danish Government Accounts Council from 2008 – 2010.
Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, 2008 – 2011.
