Velkommen!

Though not an EU member, Norway participates in EIF activities via the European Economic Area (EEA) framework. The EIF supports Norwegian SMEs with equity and guarantees instruments, working with local partners and funds.

The EIF’s work in Norway is focused on strengthening the innovation ecosystem and facilitating access to finance for smaller companies. Key initiatives include backing private equity and venture capital investments and providing guarantee instruments under EU programmes extended to the EEA. These tools boost innovation, competitiveness and entrepreneurship, helping smaller companies grow in sustainable and high-potential sectors.

EIF in Norway

Representing 99% of all businesses and more than two thirds of the workforce, Norway’s 267,000 SMEs are responsible for driving innovation as well as spurring on growth, and their daily routine is what ensures the competitiveness of the Norwegian economy. But to do that, they often need finance.

At the EIF, our mission is to improve access to finance for small businesses across the EU. In Norway, we have been supporting SMEs using a broad range of instruments, including many tailored to the needs of the Norwegian market and designed with the Norwegian government and local authorities.
