The EIF in Latvia

“We built everything from the ground up…Essentially we make sound personal,” says Helmuts Bems, co‑founder of Riga-based audio tech company Sonarworks, which uses machine learning to tailor sound for users and professionals alike.

Supported by an equity investment from Karma Ventures - an EIF-backed fund under the Baltic Innovation Fund - Sonarworks directed funding into R&D and consumer product development, accelerating its transition beyond thousands of studios to a mass‑market sound solution.

“We stuck to the problem, not to the solution,” explains Dainis Kruze, co‑founder of Aerones, a Latvian robotics firm using pulley-mounted robots to inspect, clean, repair and coat wind‑turbine blades in hours, not days.

With equity investment from Change Ventures - funded by the EIF (BIF, InnovFin Equity and EFSI) - Aerones has scaled globally, partnering with major manufacturers like GE and Enel, and significantly expanding R&D and commercial deployment.

The senior regional representative is recently created role by the EIF so that we are closer to the markets and the entrepreneurs we are aiming to support. Juho Aminoff is our primary contact person on the ground for EIF in Latvia.
