Since 2001, the EIF has supported Czech SMEs’ access to finance through a mix of guarantees, equity, and private credit solutions.

Specialised instruments – including the ESIF Fund-of-Funds, Recovery & Resilience Facility (RRF) mandates, and InvestEU guarantees – co-funded by national, EU, and private sources and developed with local partners – are strengthening the Czech SME ecosystem.

Frusack

Frusack, a Czech company producing stylish reusable bioplastic grocery bags from corn starch, offers an eco-friendly alternative to conventional bags.

Supported through InnovFin SME Guarantee and EFSI-backed financing via UniCredit, the company expanded its production capacity - manufacturing locally in the Czech Republic to meet surging demand across Europe, North America, and Australia.

Debt financing intermediaries in Czech Republic

The EIF supports micro, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) by working with a wide range of funds, banks and promotional banks, leasing companies, guarantee and microfinance institutions or any other financial institution financing to SMEs across Europe.

EIF in Czechia

Representing 99% of all businesses and more than two thirds of the workforce, the Czech Republic's 1,139,000 SMEs are responsible for driving innovation as well as spurring on growth, and their daily routine is what ensures the competitiveness of the Czech economy. But to do that, they often need finance.

At the EIF, our mission is to improve access to finance for small businesses across the EU. In the Czech Republic, we have been supporting SMEs using a broad range of instruments, including many tailored to the needs of the Czech market and designed with the Czech government and local authorities.
