Most digital planning tools assume one kind of brain - one that can maintain perfect focus, stick to strict routines, and effortlessly start tasks. But for many people with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or executive functioning differences, those tools simply don’t work. They add friction instead of clarity, guilt rather than support.
Technology assistance
Founded in 2015 by Helene Nørlem and Melissa Azari, Tiimo was born out of research exploring how technology could help neurodivergent teens manage daily life. “Most planning tools weren’t made for neurodivergent people,” explains Helene. “They expect perfect focus, seamless task initiation, and rigid routines, leaving behind many people with executive functioning differences.”
When Melissa was later diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, the work became even more personal. The duo realised that most tools on the market don’t just fail to support neurodivergent users - they actively exclude them. “We built Tiimo to change that.” Helene says. “Our tools are adaptive by design; visual, flexible, and grounded in how neurodivergent people really plan, think, and follow through.”
From research project to global impact
Today, Tiimo, your personal assistant helping you manage time, supports more than one million users and the app is available in 22 languages, helping people organise their day with less stress and more confidence. Its core community of around 70,000 subscribers, many of them young adults navigating independence for the first time, rely on Tiimo to structure time, focus on what matters, and manage emotional energy.
The impact reaches far beyond productivity. For some, Tiimo has meant being able to travel alone for the first time or arrive at work on time - small wins that empower the users. One user described it simply: “For the first time, I can finally be like everybody else.”
Tiimo’s thoughtful, accessible design has earned global recognition, including being named an Apple Design Award finalist, and attracted investment from Crowberry Capital in 2022, backed by the EIF. Yet its true success lies in the stories of users who have turned daily overwhelm into clarity and calm. “Nobody should feel that they are wrong,” Helene adds.
What's next?
Helene and Melissa are currently working on improvements that center on integrating artificial intelligence. This planned feature will allow users to brain-dump their thoughts and then have the AI agent structure them into an action plan that sounds empowering and not overwhelming.
The first version of the AI-co planner was launched in September 2025. “Our main focus is to keep improving the experience to make it truly feel like an assistant that knows and supports you in everything planning-related,” Helene says.
