Plan A: made-to-measure sustainability

“Decarbonisation is central to stabilising our economy,” says Lubomila Jordanova, CEO of Plan A. “Corporates contribute to the world’s carbon footprint so they must be part of the solution too. Our job is to provide the tools that will support them on their transformational journey.”

Transitioning to a greener economic model is Plan A’s ultimate objective. The company’s SaaS (software-as-a-service) software offers an end-to-end solution for companies aiming to plan and implement a tangible decarbonisation strategy and align to environmental, social, and governance policies across the globe. “Many businesses have started including environmental indicators in their business planning and reporting as they realise not doing so is too risky as it doesn't show the full picture of the preparedness of their business for the future. Our technology can enable transparent assessment of such ESG-related KPIs. We enable businesses to assess their data, automatically get a decarbonisation plan, and automate reporting according to international ESG frameworks.”

Lubomila is no stranger to the corporate world herself, having spent several years working in large companies and financial institutions, before a trip to Morocco in 2016 changed things: “I was standing on a beach littered with rubbish. Instead of surfing we ended up cleaning the beaches. I thought, there must be something I can do to fight this. So, I spent a year educating myself, and the more I was learning, the more I felt that there wasn't a more important topic to dedicate my career to.”

She founded Plan A in 2017 and 5 years down the line, the start-up has an impressive portfolio of corporate clients in all kinds of industries from automotive to finance, fashion, maritime, tech, and utilities. More recently, the company received an equity investment from Keen Venture Partners, an EIF-backed venture capital firm. “It was vital to have them on board, not just financially but because they believe in our vision, they understand the problems we are trying to solve, and the challenges businesses face if they disregard the environmental topic,” she says.

Plan A sees a long road ahead: “Businesses still don’t fully understand the true opportunity of becoming sustainability pioneers. It takes effort to kick off the process, but the benefits one can reap are unlimited - increased revenue, better resilience, team member retention, and more. I look forward to Plan A being able to support millions of businesses on this journey.”
