2015 EIB Group Sustainability Report

  •
    Release date: 14 July 2016

Sustainability reports act as a valuable resource for organisations looking to disclose key environmental, social and governance (ESG) information to their stakeholders and ESG data disclosures are increasingly viewed as essential for measuring true corporate performance.

We have been reporting on our corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard reporting framework since 2005, achieving and maintaining the highest reporting level since 2011.

The content of the EIB Group 2015 Sustainability Report is based on the results of a full materiality analysis that was conducted in 2014, reviewed and confirmed in 2015 in line with the GRI G4 guidelines. Of all the EIB Group’s material ESG aspects, three core aspects were identified by internal and external stakeholders to be the most material to the EIB Group:

  1. Achieving the EIB Group’s priority objectives
  2. Managing the Group’s indirect impacts
  3. Transparency and accountability at the EIB Group

As in previous years, and in keeping with the EIB Group’s approach to ‘Best-in-class’, our external auditor, KPMG has provided a limited assurance report on the statements and indicators in the report marked with þ and in italic text prepared in line with the GRI G4 Guidelines “in accordance” comprehensive option.

Sustainability lies at the heart of everything the EIB Group does and shapes our activities and investment decisions. This report is a testament to the achievements of the best corporate responsibility standards followed by the EIB Group.

The full 2015 GRI G4 Content Index that complements this report and Indicators on Human Resources 2015 of the EIB Group are available on EIB website.
