European Investment Fund invests in Capricorn Cleantech Fund
Date: 26/06/2008The European Investment Fund (EIF) announces an investment in Capricorn Cleantech Fund, a Belgium-based pan-European early-stage fund.
Final closing was completed at EUR 101m. Capricorn Cleantech Fund will invest equity stakes of between EUR 4m to EUR 6m in technology based small and medium-sized companies (SME) in the “cleantech” / eco-innovation sector. This sector covers a range of products, processes and services that harness renewable materials and energy sources, reduce the use of natural resources, cut or eliminate pollution and add economic value by significantly lowering cost and improving profitability.
This investment was made under the European Commission Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP-GIF1). GIF1 aims to help SMEs with their establishment or early stages of development.
