EIF selects the second financial intermediary for Latvia Holding Fund

The EIF Board has concluded the selection of the second financial intermediary under the JEREMIE initiative's call for expressions of interest in Latvia.
The EIF has selected Imprimatur Capital Baltics to establish and manage new Seed and Start-up capital funds with a planned total capital of EUR 20.4 million (EUR 14.7 million public and EUR 5.7 million private) dedicated to investing in SMEs in Latvia.
The Seed and Start-up capital funds will provide early-stage financing for innovative micro, small and medium size technology companies with international growth potential. The Seed fund will provide proof-of-concept financing of up to EUR 100,000 per qualifying company, and the Start-up fund will invest up to EUR 1 million per company, with the aim of building over several years a portfolio of 14-16 technology growth companies in Latvia.
With this announcement the EIF has concluded a process known as a ‘call for expression of interest' for the JEREMIE Holding Fund which attracted a total of 11 applicant companies, including 10 from Latvia and one from Italy. The EIF conducted a thorough analysis process to select the best applicant against set criteria and using the EIF's Risk Capital expertise built up through investing close to EUR 3.7 billion into over 300 Funds across Europe over the past 15 years.
Subject to agreeing final legal documentation and the raising by the fund manager of private sector investor commitments, the Seed and Start-up funds are expected to be operational by the end of 2009.
About JEREMIE
JEREMIE (Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises) is a joint initiative launched by the European Commission (DG Regional Policy) and the European Investment Bank group to improve access to finance for SMEs in the EU within the Structural Funds framework for the period 2007 - 2013. JEREMIE enables the EU Member States and Regions to put money from the structural funds and also national resources into holding funds that can finance SMEs in a flexible and innovative way. Since the products will be provided on a repayment basis, funding will be reinvested and hence more SMEs will benefit from the EU resources.
EIF has currently signed 7 National (Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus and Bulgaria) and 2 Regional (in France - Languedoc Roussillon, and Italy - Campania) Holding Fund agreements.
The new initiative aims at developing and fostering the role of entrepreneurship within the EU in order to meet the objectives of the Lisbon agenda and help structural funds to deliver greater benefits to the market.

Eiropas Investīciju fonds izvēlējies otro finanšu institūciju Latvijas Ieguldījumu fonda līdzekļu pārvaldīšanai

Sēklas un uzsākšanas kapitāla fondu dibināšanai un pārvaldīšanai Eiropas Investīciju Fonds (EIF) ir izvēlējies Imprimatur Capital Baltics. Nodibināt fondus un uzsākt ieguldīšanu uzņēmumos paredzēts līdz 2009. gada beigām, kad tiks pabeigta papildus nepieciešamo privāto investoru piesaiste un juridiskās dokumentācijas saskaņošana.
